Roads have reopened around a skyscraper that was causing transport chaos in Manchester city centre. Parts of Rochdale Road, Miller Street and Angel Street have been closed for more than two weeks after three panels blew off Angel Gardens, a 36-storey luxury tower block that opened in the NOMA district last year.
Building owners Moda Living decided to check all 2,400 panels on the facade and specialist contractors were brought in to abseil down and carry out inspections.
Today (Wednesday) Moda said those inspections are now complete and it is safe to reopen the roads. The news will come as a relief to motorists who have been hit with major delays in the area as a result of the road closures at a key junction in the city centre.
