‘Riot’ breaks out at Polmont jail with ‘guards locked out of hall’ by furious youths

HMYOI Polmont after ‘locking the guards out’ of a jail hall. Chaotic scenes are understood to have broken out at around 4.30pm on Friday, July 30, with inmates believed to have smashed up furniture, sinks and other property in Iona Hall.

One jail insider told the Daily Record that tensions had been building between staff and inmates due to a perceived ‘lack of ‘respect’ which resulted in the gang barricading a door.
