Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand criticised Erik ten Hag for his decision to substitute Cristiano Ronaldo during Sunday's goalless draw with Newcastle United at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo, who was awarded just his second Premier League start of the season against the Magpies, was taken off with just under 20 minutes left on the clock and replaced by Marcus Rashford.
The latter had started on the bench due to 'feeling under the weather'. Ten Hag's decision, considering United were in need of a goal, to take Ronaldo off came as a surprise.
The Portuguese star was seeing more of the ball in the second half after being starved of opportunities prior to the break.
