Rio Ferdinand has paid tribute to former Manchester United team-mate Michael Carrick following his departure from the club. Carrick’s exit was announced shortly after he took charge of his final game with the club, leading them to a 3-2 win over Arsenal at Old Trafford as incoming interim manager Ralf Rangnick watched on.
The former midfielder had been placed in temporary charge following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking, and picked up two wins and a draw in his three games as he ended his time with the club on a high.
Speaking to Amazon Prime Video about his decision, Carrick said: “It’s not been an easy one to make to be honest but I feel it’s the right one. “I’m content with my decision, I’m quite happy.
