Rio Ferdinand's making up for lost time after missing kids' childhood

Rio Ferdinand has revealed that he 'missed so many things' when his children were growing up and has now vowed to make up for that.

The 42-year-old football star, who recently welcomed a baby boy with wife Kate Ferdinand, has reflected on being a dad as well as previously juggling his sporting duties.

Speaking to Gabby Logan on her podcast, The MidPoint, Rio revealed that he was incredibly busy with work when he eldest three children were growing up.

Rio shares Lorenz, 14, Tate, 12, Tia, nine, with his late wife Rebecca. "I was probably not there 75 per cent of the time. I was on the road, travelling around Europe and playing games," Rio told Gabby during the podcast. "When I was there, was I really there mentally?
