Rio Ferdinand has joked that Wayne Rooney looked like a "Sunday footballer" following his retirement. The pair were team-mates at Manchester United for almost a decade and shared plenty of success.

Rooney was a leading light under Sir Alex Ferguson and Ferdinand went on to say that he "played like a world beater". By the time the forward bought the curtain down on his 14-year stay in Manchester he was the club's all-time top scorer.
