Ricky Gervais bulks up security ahead of UK tour after receiving death threats

Ricky Gervais' security has been beefed up ahead of his UK tour Armageddon after the comedian received death threats over his polarising humour.

The Office star has previously jokingly confessed that he had reported his fans "for hate crimes" for finding the funny side of his newer material.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Ricky has been made aware threats have been made to his life. His offices haven't shown them to him, but have told him very disturbing letters have come in for him. "Ricky is very aware of the dangers and he can afford whatever security he wants, so he thought it was a no-brainer. "The comedian previously announced that the Armageddon tour would be appearing on Netflix in the future.

On Twitter, he said: "Loads of people who couldn't get tickets asking me if #Armageddon will be on Netflix. The answer is Yes!
