One lesser-known example is Danish dressage rider Anna Kasprzak, who has competed in two Summer Games. Her grandfather, Karl Toosbuy, was the founder of shoe brand Ecco, and according to Forbes, she has a net worth of $1.3billion (£1bn) through company shares inherited from her family.
However, this figure pales in comparison to the staggering wealth of basketball legend Michael Jordan, who won Olympic gold twice – first as a young player at the 1984 Los Angeles Games and then again as a seasoned pro at Barcelona 1992.
