Ollie Watkins scored a perfect hat-trick while there were also goals for Jack Grealish, Ross Barkley and John McGinn. The result was made worse by the fact that many Liverpool players jetted off for international duty the next day.
It has meant that they will not be able to train with one another and figure out where it went wrong. And when they return, they will have just two days before facing an upbeat Everton in the Premier League on October 17.
