Self-confessed fitness fanatic Richard Tait feels just at home in the gym as he did on the football pitch. But that doesn’t stop the retiring defender being grateful to St Mirren for giving him the perfect venue to call time on his eventful career in football.
After a final season in Paisley disrupted by injury, Tait revealed he was comfortable with his decision to swap his boots for trainers at the age of 33.
While many players look to extend their career as long as physically possible, the popular full-back was ready to take the next step on his career as a full-time CrossFit coach.
Tait admits he would have been happy staying at Motherwell for the rest of his career, before he found himself on the hunt for a new club back in 2020 in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
