A dedicated GP who stopped working less than a month ago due to his risk of contracting coronavirus has died after testing positive for the killer bug.

Fayaz Ayache, a 76-year-old grandad from Raydon in Suffolk, retired two years ago but returned to working "a couple of days a week" as a GP with North Clacton Medical Group soon after as he wanted to help people.

His family said he "felt it was his duty to help" people but he stopped working about three and a half weeks ago due to the risk of coronavirus, his eldest daughter Layla Ayache said.

Dr Ayache was taken by ambulance to Ipswich Hospital on April 2 where he was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia and coronavirus and died six days later.
