Lloreen Le Roux is woken every morning as the sun rises by a chorus of hee’s and haws. Ten years ago, she would have been preparing her day for a corporate office job as a bond originator.
Today, she’s tying her boots in preparation to begin her day caring for her drove of donkeys. Donkey populations around the world, but especially in Africa are under threat because Chinese traditional medicine uses the gelatine found in their hides, often removed while the donkey is still alive, to produce a product called ejioa.
