Residents in a Scots apartment block say they are "living in fear" after multiple fires were started in their stairwell.Emergency services scrambled to Hyvot Park in Gilmerton, Edinburgh, after incidents happened on both Saturday and Sunday night.
Images showed communal areas of the flats left burnt out following the fires, with residents saying that they have been left "scared for their lives".
The aftermath has left the whole building black with smoke after furniture and doors were targeted by firebugs. One horrified local told Edinburgh Live a bag was tied to the door of their OAP neighbour and set alight, with smoke travelling all the way to their flat on the top floor.
She said: "A second attempt was made on Sunday night to start a fire at my 83-year-old neighbour's flat. Thankfully she is okay but we've all been up throughout the night scared."Right now I'm living in fear.
