A dog rescue centre is responsible for saving hundreds of dogs from the horrifying conditions of the meat trade in China, where the animals are often beaten, boiled alive or skinned alive.
The charity Candy's Hound Rescue International, formerly known as Candy Cane Rescue, has brought back over 500 dogs from China since being set up in 2017.
Kerry Lawrence established the Lincolnshire-based charity, and organises every aspect of a dog's journey into their new and free life - from physically rescuing the dogs in China, flying them back to the UK and other locations, and then proceeding to find their forever home with the loving owners they deserve.
Grimsby Live reports that because the cost of transporting the dogs can cost around £2,500, the charity relies heavily on donations from the public.
