A Renfrewshire charity is hoating a Military Ball for veterans and in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.The Erskine Reid Macewen Activities Centre (ERMAC), based in the veterans' village in Bishopton, have been hosting the ball for many years and is expecting around 400 guests to attend.The Military Ball will take place at the Doubletree by Hilton hotel, Glasgow, on Friday, October 7 from 6pm until 1am.Don't miss the latest headlines from around Renfrewshire.

Sign up to our newsletters here.It has been namedl the Jubilee Ball to honour Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.A spokesperson for Erskine said: “Erskine veterans have the very highest respect and admiration for Her Majesty. "There are no veterans, or anyone living or working at Erskine, who have not been touched by Her Majesty’s influence in some way - either as the highest example of loyal commitment and leadership, or as a deeply interested, humorous and compassionate visitor.“We feel that the Military Ball will be a great occasion to honour Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her wonderful 70 years of service.”Veterans and their families will be able to have a grand time dancing to the Scots Guards Association Pipes and Drums who will be playing at the event.Many of the veterans at the charity were deeply saddened by the Queen's death.The spokesperson added: “The passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has been a sad occasion for our veterans, as she was their ‘boss’ and many of them recall their memories of her and their honour in signing up to serve her, a veteran herself.”Renfrewshire Live, the new free app dedicated to bringing you around the clock breaking news, is now available to download.Powered by the Paisley Daily Express,
