Joe Otterson TV Reporter Renée Zellweger is attached to star in a series adaptation of the novel “12 Months to Live” that is currently in development at Max, Variety has learned.
The project is currently titled “Jane Smith,” named after the novel’s main character, whom Zellweger will play. The book was written by James Patterson and Mike Lupica, with Miki Johnson set to adapt it for the screen and serve as showrunner.
The novel was originally published in September 2023, with the second novel in the series, “Hard to Kill,” due out on July 29.
The official description for the series states that it “centers on a brilliant, tough, and darkly funny defense attorney in the Hamptons.
