Alexis Ohanian‘s voice has been heard. The Reddit co-founder announced last week that he would be giving up his seat on the board of his company in hopes that they would consider filling the position with a black candidate. “I have resigned as a member of the Reddit board, I have urged them to fill my seat with a black candidate,” Ohanian, who started Reddit 15 years ago, said on social media.
On Wednesday, the company announced that tech mogul Michael Seibel would be joining the board. He is Reddit’s first black board member.
Seibel helped launch Reddit back in 2005, and was the first full-time black partner at the startup accelerator Y Combinator.
