For all the latest news from in and around Bolton, sign up for the free MyBolton newsletter Ryan Delaney turned down the offer of a new contract at Bolton Wanderers because Ian Evatt could not offer him guarantees of first choice football.
The Irish defender left Wanderers last month after talks over a new deal between the player and club did not end in agreement.
The 24-year-old joined Bolton in January 2020 from Rochdale and went on to make 27 appearances for the club and scored three goals.
Of these, 23 appearances and two goals came under Evatt last season as Delaney formed part of a back three in the first half of the season alongside the likes of Ricardo Almeida Santos and Alex Baptiste.
