BBC daytime soap Doctors has been cancelled after more than 20 years, leaving fans devastated.The real reason for the show's cancellation has now been revealed.
Doctors has been a launchpad for many big stars, including Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne, Outlander's Sam Heughan and Fleabag's Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
However, the BBC has decided to end the long-running series, which first aired in 2000. Fans will have over a year to watch episodes before it disappears from the schedules as filming is expected to conclude in March with episodes airing until Christmas 2024.
It seems the cost of producing and filming the soap is the reason the show has been given the chop. Soap boss Kate Oates explained that it has become an impossible challenge to balance the books and make the show economically viable.
