UPDATE, with opening date: Real Women Have Curves will begin its Broadway previews on April 1, 2025, ahead of an opening night of Sunday, April 27.
The production will play at a Shubert-owned theater to be announced. PREVIOUS, Sept. 12: Real Women Have Curves, a new musical based on the 1990 play and subsequent 2002 film adaptation that starred America Ferrera, will debut on Broadway in 2025, producers announced today.
The musical, which had its world premiere in 2023 at American Repertory Theater at Harvard University, will feature music and lyrics by Grammy Award-winning artist Joy Huerta of the Mexican pop duo Jesse & Joy and composer/lyricist Benjamin Velez, book by Lisa Loomer, and additional material by Nell Benjamin.
Sergio Trujillo will direct and choreography, with music supervision by Nadia DiGiallonardo. Real Women Have Curves will be produced by Barry Weissler, Fran Weissler, and Jack Noseworthy.
