Ellise Shafer Prime Video‘s “Reacher” universe is expanding with the series order of a spinoff starring Maria Sten. “The Untitled Neagley Project” focuses on Sten’s Frances Neagley, a private investigator in Jack Reacher’s circle. “When she learns that a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident, she becomes hell bent on justice,” the show’s synopsis reads. “Using everything she’s learned from Jack Reacher and her time as a member of the 110 Special Investigators, Neagley puts herself on a dangerous path to uncover a menacing evil.” Amazon MGM Studios head Jennifer Salke made the announcement at the Prime Video Presents: Trailblazers event on Tuesday in London. “Reacher” series creator Nick Santora developed the spinoff with “Law & Order” writer Nicholas Wootton, and the two will serve as co-showrunners and executive producers.
The show is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television and CBS Studios. Though a release date has not yet been revealed, the series will stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories. “As ‘Reacher’ continues to resonate with our global customers in a profound way, expanding on the storytelling and characters with a spinoff was an easy decision,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios. “With Nick and Nicholas as well as our partners Skydance and CBS Studios, we’re confident this new chapter, starring the amazing Maria Sten, will not only honor the ‘Reacher’ legacy but also bring fresh energy and excitement to new and longtime fans alike.” “Reacher,” starring Alan Ritchson, is based on the “Jack Reacher” book series by Lee Child and has become one of Prime Video’s most successful shows.
