Red Bull Leipzig expect defender Dayot Upamecano to sign a contract extension to prevent him leaving on a free transfer next year.
Upamecano is a transfer target for Arsenal, while he is also highly rated by Man Utd. Both clubs would be able to sign him for nothing when his contract expires in 2021, which has put Leipzig in a difficult situation this summer.
The Bundesliga outfit would rather cash-in on the 21-year-old now than miss out on a fee completely in future, but they are confident he will follow the example of Timo Werner and pen fresh terms before moving on at a later date. "I assume that he [Upamecano] will also play for us next season.
