Carvel Bennett, now aged 74 and from Erdington, Birmingham, admitted having intercourse with the young girl in the 1970s but claimed she initiated it, told him she was 16 and consented, Birmingham Live reports.
However, he was found guilty of rape after a jury took less than two hours to dismiss his account at Birmingham Crown Court.
Bennett will be sentenced later today (August 3) but has already been told he faces a lengthy jail sentence and is likely to spend the remaining years of his life in prison.When the victim turned 14, she gave birth to a baby girl who was put up her for adoption.
