Rap lyrics can be used in Young Thug case, says judge
nme.comYoung Thug case.Young Thug (real name Jeffery Lamar Williams) was arrested back in May 2022 over two gang-related charges, and was later charged with seven additional felonies.
He was arrested alongside Gunna, who are both involved with the musical collective YSL (Young Stoner Life). YSL has been accused of being “a criminal street gang” with conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).
Both men have denied their charges, with Young Thug having his bail denied three times.Gunna has since entered a negotiated plea, pleading guilty to one racketeering charge and maintaining his innocence on the same charge.
He was sentenced to five years with one year commuted to time served and the rest suspended subject to probation conditions; he was released from prison in December 2022.However, Young Thug’s trial is still ongoing.
