Rangers striker Jermain Defoe was fined for driving 20mph over the speed limit in his Land Rover. The 38-year-old was caught speeding at 61mph in a 40mph zone in Enfield, north London, in May last year.
He pleaded guilty but did not attend a court hearing today and was represented by a solicitor on video link. Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court heard the footballer was sent a letter about the driving offence but he didn’t see it because it was sent to “one of his other addresses”.According to the charge he was speeding in his ‘16 plate Land Rover between Hoe Lane and Turkey Street on the A10.The footballer was banned from driving for six months in 2009 after being convicted of speeding, however the court heard he does not currently have enough.
