Rangers have reportedly launched a counterclaim against the organisers of the Sydney Super Cup amid an attempt to sue the Ibrox club for around £1.6million.
The Light Blues pulled out of the Down Under tournament, where they were due to face Celtic. Event chiefs say this was as a result of a furious fan backlash and is seeing them chased for lost cash through the court in Australia with Everton stepping in to fill the void.
Organisers felt they were left out of pocket with an Old Firm fixture in Australia initially one of the tournament's major selling points.
Sporting events promoters TEG Live Pty Ltd and Left Field Live Pty Ltd filed a legal claim against Rangers in Federal Court last week.
