Old Firm derbies don't always live up to the billing, but Rangers and Celtic played out an extraordinary 3-3 draw at Ibrox that has added more spice to an already tantalising title race.

Brendan Rodgers' Hoops were in cruise control in the first half and opened the scoring in bizarre circumstances within the first 60 seconds as James Tavernier's attempted clearance rebounded off Daizen Maeda and into the back of the net.

The champions continued to dominate and doubled their lead on 34 minutes when Matt O'Riley expertly dispatched from the penalty spot after Connor Goldson had been punished for a handball by VAR.Philippe Clement's men went into the interval needing a mountain to climb, but were soon handed a lifeline when a contentiou penalty decision allowed skipper Tavernier to step up and half the deficit.

They almost drew level when Cyriel Dessers made the most of some poor Celtic defending to bundle home from close range, only for VAR to chalk it off for a foul in the build up.However, the Light Blues were finally rewarded for their efforts when substitute Abdallah Sima lashed home a deflected shot with four minutes of normal time remaining after returning Hoops captain Callum McGregor gave away a slack pass in midfield.Rangers then pushed for a winner, but in extraordinary style the visitors looked like the ones who would be coming away with maximum points when Adam Idah produced some dazzling feet to fire low past Joe Hart.
