Ramy Youssef Says “We Need To Stop The Violence”; Wears Ceasefire Pin Along With Billie Eilish & Finneas O’Connell On Oscars Red Carpet

Youssef told Deadline, “This is for Artists for Ceasefire” about the pin. “We have a growing list of so many artists who want a permanent immediate ceasefire in Gaza,” the actor added. “To get really universal about it, it’s about stop killing kids,” he continued. “We’re using our voices to speak to people’s hearts,” he added, “we want people to have safety and justice.” “It’s obvious something a lot of people have a lot of opinions about, and I think there can be a place and time to process feelings,” Youssef said, speaking about the divided political situation in Israel and Gaza. “The best time to process feelings is when there isn’t active violence happening.
So, we need to stop the violence. we need to stop the bombing.” The actor referenced President Joe Biden’s state of the union speech in which he too said a ceasefire was needed as well as the creation of a Palestinian state.
Last October, 55 prominent artists signed a letter asking Biden to demand a ceasefire in Gaza and Israel. Those signatures included Youssef, Mark Ruffalo Joaquin Phoenix, Cate Blanchett, Jon Stewart, Kristen Stewart, Susan Sarandon, Mahershala Ali, Riz Ahmed, Quinta Brunson and more.
