Airdrie player-boss Rhys McCabe has revealed three tears to his calf are holding him back from riding to the Diamonds' rescue ahead of tonight's clash at Raith Rovers. The 32-year-old hasn't played since August and his experience has been sorely lacking with the club losing nine of their last 12 games in all competitions, leaving them bottom of the Championship.Their only league win of the season came against Raith on the opening day when Ian Murray was at the helm on August 3.With the club beset by injuries, nothing is going right for the Monklands men right now and McCabe is frustrated he can't help.He said: “With my injury, I’ve had three tears on my calf, which is not ideal.
After a calf injury last year in the Challenge Cup final, coming back to pre-season and stuff, it was an ongoing issue that I didn’t feel was 100 per cent.
I wanted to go and get checked out, and thankfully I did.“I had three 5cm tears on my calf, so the positive side of it is I’ve not made it any worse."The calf is a tricky one, because you use your legs all the time, and especially the way that we want to play and stuff.
It’s about making sure at my age, 32, to rest it. "The last thing I want to be getting is constant injuries with the same thing.” The Diamonds already have a host of stars on the treatment table and Gallagher will now be added to that.Airdrie go into the game off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Ayr on Saturday, where ex-Rangers and St Mirren midfielder Gavin Gallagher picked up an injury to add to their woes.McCabe said: “Gavin kind of popped his elbow out of place, and it kind of went back in, so he’s in a sling just now, but we don’t know the kind of extent to it. “I don’t even know what happened, he just kind of went down.
