Ex-Liverpool full-back Stephen Warnock has revealed a mix-up with the squad list for the 2005 Champions League final led him to believe he would be involved in the game - before he was left out of the team.
Warnock was a fringe player for the Reds at the time, and had only made six appearances in Europe that season. But speaking in an interview with BBC Sounds he revealed that he was left devastated after initially thinking he would be involved in the final against AC Milan - which Liverpool famously won on penalties after coming back from 3-0 down - only to later be told otherwise.
