Did 12th district tribute Lucy Gray Baird really die at the end of Liongate’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes?

Rachel Zegler would like to quote Olivia Rodrigo, who provided the end credits song for the $337M-plus grossing fall hit, “Can’t Catch Me Now”: “She’s in the trees, she’s in the breeze.” “I for one, like to believe she’s alive,” says Zegler.

Zegler was at Deadline’s SXSW studio for her A24 apocalyptic comedy, Y2K, directed by SNL alum Kyle Mooney which made its world premiere in Austin, TX on Saturday night.

Mooney interjected about the potential for a Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes 2, “I will say she’s in fact, coming back.” Added Y2K scribe Evan Winter, “She is in the post credits scene of our movie.” “That will be Kyle Mooney’s movie,” joked Zegler who does not sing sublime bluegrass songs ala Songbirds & Snakes in the sketch comedian’s new flick.
