Quentin Jerome Tarantino (born March 27, 1963) is an American filmmaker, actor, film programmer, and cinema owner.

His films are characterized by nonlinear storylines, satirical subject matter, aestheticization of violence, extended scenes of dialogue, ensemble casts, references to popular culture and a wide variety of other films, soundtracks primarily containing songs and score pieces from the 1960s to the 1980s, alternate history, and features of neo-noir film.

Cynthia Erivo

Cynthia Onyedinmanasu Chinasaokwu Erivo (born 8 January 1987) is an English actress, singer, and songwriter.

She is known for her performance as Celie in the Broadway revival of The Color Purple, for which she won the 2016 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical, the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, and the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Musical Performance in a Daytime Program, the latter two she shared with the rest of the cast.

Erivo ventured into films in 2018, with roles in the heist film Widows and the thriller Bad Times at the El Royale. In 2019, she portrayed abolitionist Harriet Tubman in the biopic Harriet, for which she earned nominations for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Marc Malkin Senior Editor, Culture and EventsThe fourth annual Academy Museum Gala, which honored Quentin Tarantino, Paul Mescal and Rita Moreno, raised $11 million on Saturday night.The evening’s program included John Travolta presenting the Luminary Award to Tarantino, who went onto to announce that he was donating his first handwritten draft of the script for “Pulp Fiction”to the museum.

The evening closed with Ariana Grande introducing her “Wicked” co-star Cynthia Erivo, who performed a four-song set that included “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from “The Wizard of Oz.”Earlier in the evening, on the red carpet, Grande told Variety that she is “absolutely” interested in recording original music with Erivo. “I love being in the studio with her, even just as like a fly on the wall, hearing what she’s working on and having her there when I’m working,” she said. “I think we are stuck with each other, professionally and personally for the rest of our lives.”The gala was presented by Rolex.
