The Queen was involved in mid-air drama yesterday afternoon as her private plane was forced to abandon its landing due to lightning.
The monarch has been staying in her Scottish home of Balmoral but had left for London on her private jet on a flight from Aberdeen when the storm struck, with heavy rain and hail forcing the aircraft back into the sky.

The pilot successfully landed at the second attempt at RAF Northolt, having left Aberdeen airport at around 1pm, according to Mirror Online.
