The Queen was widely known to have a wicked sense of humour and since news of her death yesterday one of Her Majesty's funniest jokes has resurfaced and gone viral.
The moment was first shared during a Sky News appearance from former protection officer Richard Griffin during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June.
He recounted the moment two American tourists failed to recognise the Queen while out walking in the grounds of Balmoral. At the time of the meeting, the Queen was dressed down in her 'casual clothes' wearing tweed and a headscarf so the pair of hikers didn't recognise her and assumed she was a fellow visitor to the Aberdeenshire estate.
Richard shared the story during the broadcast, he said: "There were two hikers coming towards us and the Queen would always stop and say hello.
