It was going to be a Christmas out of the norm for the Queen and Prince Philip this year as they prepare to spend it at Windsor Castle, not Sandringham, for the first time in over 30 years.
But there has been another seismic shift in the royals’ lives which will go far beyond the festive period. It has been shared that the Queen’s head housekeeper at Sandringham, the Norfolk, Estate owned by the monarch has mysteriously quit her job after 32 years.
Patricia Earl, 56, who lives close to the estate, has left her position with no official explanation being offered. This follows in the wake of a royal staff revolt earlier this year which saw workers rebel against plans to lock themselves in a bubble with the royals over the Christmas period.
