After a hard week of working the daily grind, we all like to treat ourselves to a sneaky takeaway now and then, and it appears even her majesty The Queen is no exception.

Even despite having a wealth of professional chefs on hand to cater for whatever the royal family’s tastebuds desire, even senior members of the family aren’t immune to ordering a takeaway sometimes as a little treat. The Queen herself is partial to the great British delicacy of fish and chips, and is said to have ordered dinner more than once from a local chip shop during her stays in Balmoral, Scotland.

One royal insider recently revealed the news while talking to The Sun, admitting that while it had indeed happened in the past, it was still very much a rare occurrence for the Queen to deviate from her prepared menu. They said: “She very occasionally treats herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral,” adding that “a footman is dispatched to get it from the local town of Ballater.” It isn’t the only takeaway the Queen has tucked into either, with Royal correspondent Jayne Seymour also revealing that the long reigning monarch has also enjoyed a takeaway kebab at least once.

According to Jayne, while in Swaffham, the British sovereign had eaten a kebab from Crazy Kebabs takeaway, although it was never revealed whether she was a fan – or if she had ordered from there a second time.
