Quad bikers have returned to damage pitches at a West Lothian sports centre just weeks after the grass was repaired. The off-road bikes have caused deep scars in the turf at Bathgate Xcite for a second time after similar tracks were gouged in the pitches. The vandals have been slammed for their thoughtlessness in damaging pitches at Xcite - and other areas around West Lothian. The problem is so bad that just last month police officers pledged to hold a day of action to tackle problems with off-road motorcycles on the footpaths around homes in West Lothian.A West Lothian Council spokesperson said of the damage at Bathgate Xcite: “Repairs were carried out to the pitches at Xcite Bathgate after damage caused by quad bikes.“Unfortunately, quad bikes have since been back on the pitches and caused further damage, which we will try and repair when conditions allow.“These pitches are heavily used by the local community, and this thoughtless damage prevents local clubs and the children who attend them in particular from using them.“It is both illegal and irresponsible to use quad bikes in this way, and we would encourage anyone with information on those responsible to call Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.” Don't miss the latest news from the West Lothian Courier.
