Pubs beg for help as just one in five may be able to open this Christmas

Four in five pubs may be forced to close this Christmas due to strict restrictions, it has been reported. Pubs across the UK are urging Boris Johnson for help, saying the new rules - branded 'lockdown by the back door' - are wrecking business.

The news comes as the country's Chief Scientific Advisor Sir Patrick Vallance revealed yesterday that there is 'no hard evidence' the 10pm pub curfews worked.

According to The Sun, the rules in the run up to Christmas now mean that 10,000 pubs may be forced to shut for good. Job losses as a result are expected to reach around 290,000.
