Protests in England have turned violent again tonight as far-right thugs clashed with anti-fascist groups. Officers in Plymouth say they have also seen "a level of violence towards officers" after items were flung through the air and a police van was damaged.

Earlier this evening cops wearing helmets were separating the anti-fascist group from "stop the boats" yobs.Chants were heard back-and-forth between the pair and it's understood at least one person has been injured.

As reported by Plymouth Live, it comes after police issued warnings to ensure there is not a repeat of the violent responses across other parts of the country.

Plymouth City Council leader Tudor Evans said earlier today that he was disappointed at the news organisers such as former EDL leader Tommy Robinson had now put Plymouth on his list of places for a "stop the boats" protest. To date these protests have descended into violent disorder in numerous towns and cities including Southport, Sunderland, Leeds, Bristol, Stoke on Trent, Manchester and Blackpool. The Stand Up To Racism began peacefully at around 6pm today, but by around 7.30pm, the second "stop the boats" protest was well underway and both groups clashed.
