But one property expert, who often appears on TV, has proven ways that you can give your home a makeover at a far cheaper price than you might think.
Kunle Barker, who's presenting at Grand Designs Live which runs at ExCeL London from May 4 to 12, has recently renovated his own house at a fraction of the expected cost.
He was expecting to spend £100,000 on the 'romantic renovation' of his home, but it ended up costing him £15,000. Speaking about his appearance at Grand Designs Live, Kunle said: "I'll be doing a session on what we call romantic renovations, which is all about falling back in love with your house.
