Prisoners get supplies to make their own cakes like Great British Bake Off stars

Lags can take part in their own Great Prison Bake Off now tasty ingredients are sold in prison tuck shops. Millions of TV viewers tuned in when Bake Off returned – including prisoners doing time.

Lags inspired by the show will be able to whip up their own sweet treats in jail kitchens. Baking products like self-raising flour, icing sugar, coconut milk and dried fruit are all available via mail order.

A source said: “All they need are eggs from the kitchen and they can put together sponges and all sorts. With time on their hands, some could put the TV contestants to shame. "Just as long as no one says, ‘I could murder a piece of cake!’” The list of products inmates are able to buy is regularly updated by the Ministry of Justice.
