That was Netflix’s Umbrella Academy, which racked up nearly 1.5B viewing minutes in the week of the Season 4 premiere. This isn’t exactly surprising, as the series was already seeing a boost in viewership in anticipation of the new season the week prior.
It popped on the streaming originals list at No. 8 with 287M minutes viewed. It’s a strong performance for the Netflix series, good enough for second place, just behind Prison Break, which is the latest licensed title to find a second life on the streamer.
For Umbrella Academy, it’s still a bit of a deflation compared to Season 3, which secured more than 2B minutes viewed during its debut week in 2022 despite a more competitive streaming environment, premiering on the heels of the first half of Stranger Things 4.
