Princess Diana's former dance instructor, Anne Allan, has opened up about a tumultuous time in the royal's life in her new memoir, Dancing With Diana.
Over a span of nine years, Anne became a trusted confidante and source of solace for the Princess of Wales as she attended regular dance classes. Now 75, the dancer revealed that Diana once shared with her the struggles of her troubled marriage to then-Prince Charles. In an excerpt from the book published in People, Anne recalled: "Slowly, after a few more minutes of gentle sobbing, [Diana] said, 'I just can't seem to do anything right when it comes to my husband.
I do love him so much and want him to be proud of me, but I don't think he feels the same way,'".She added: "I just let her talk, not offering advice, but just listening.
She continued, 'I don't understand why I am not enough for him; I think he prefers an older woman."Allan noted that during their regular meetings, she had picked up on several "tongue-in-cheek" remarks from the Princess about her husband, leading her to suspect he was having an affair, something Allan tried to assure Diana was not happening.
