As the Princess of Wales continues her recovery from abdominal surgery, Princess Beatrice has gracefully stepped up, shouldering unofficial royal engagements to keep the Windsors afloat.
However, amidst Beatrice's newfound family prominence, there's speculation brewing over Princess Eugenie's reluctance to step up to the plate.
A source tells OK! that while Princess Beatrice has undertaken several charity events representing the royal family in recent weeks, Eugenie appears hesitant to embrace a similar role as she prefers a “quieter, more private life” instead. “Beatrice stepped up to represent the royal family at mental health week recently which is an event Kate would have attended,” the source said. “She’s also been taking the lead at public occasions like the Cheltenham Festival and other family gatherings which is a clear sign of her taking on more royal responsibility. “Eugenie, on the other hand, is not as keen to take on that kind of responsibility as she despises being under a microscope and wants to focus on what’s dear to her.” The source reveals that despite encouragement from Palace aides, Eugenie seems content with a quieter life, preferring to focus on her growing family with husband Jack Brooksbank. “Eugenie is quite happy to take a back seat,” the source said. “She’s quite content with championing her Slavery Collective charity and other worthy causes, but when it comes to stepping in for more senior members of the royal family in more of an official capacity is where she draws the line.” The source adds that Princess Beatrice's dedication to her unofficial royal duties has not gone unnoticed by King Charles and Prince William who now see her in a new light.
