A stunning new portrait of Kate Middleton and Prince William has been released – the first of its kind. The painting was commissioned by the Cambridgeshire Royal Portrait Fund, held by the Cambridge Community Foundation last year, and was created by award-winning British portrait artist Jamie Coreth.

It has been created as a gift to Cambridgeshire, sparking Jamie to incorporate the City of Cambridge into the portrait by painting the background with the tones and colours of many of the historical stone buildings that are synonymous with the city. The painting shows the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge standing side-by-side as Kate wears a stunning emerald green dress – a colour the 40 year old royal has been seen wearing on several occasions.

Paired with the dress is what appears to be some Manolo Blahnik heels and a silver pear brooch. Meanwhile, William – who celebrated his 40th birthday on Tuesday 21 June – is wearing a black two-piece suit paired with a teal blue tie to perfectly compliment Kate’s beautiful dress. The two royals look off into the distance in true portrait style.

Members of the public will be able to view the portrait at the University of Cambridge’s Fitzwilliam Museum for an initial period of three years, after which the artwork will be exhibited in other community spaces and galleries around Cambridgeshire.
