Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made a sweet nod to Princess Diana in this year's Christmas card. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex released their annual Christmas card on Monday, 16 December, which features a grid of heartwarming photos.
One of the six photos shows a new family snap with their two children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, as they joyfully run towards their parents. The image in the montage, set on a dark green background with little snow dots, shows Meghan smiling at Archie with her arms stretched out while Harry is crouched down to greet Lilibet with a loving hug.
The card's message reads: "On behalf of the office of Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Archewell Productions and Archewell Foundation." It concludes with: "We wish you a very happy holiday season and a joyful new year." The family photo is thought to be a subtle nod to a well-known photo of Diana, the former Princess of Wales, which shows her gleefully greeting a young Harry and William on the deck of the yacht Britannia in Toronto. The photo was captured when Harry and William joined their parents during an official visit to Canada on October 23, 1991.
Harry and Meghan's elated expressions and wide open arms to their two young children in their Christmas card snap strongly resemble those of Diana in a touching tribute. This comes as no surprise, as Harry has often expressed his desire to continue his mother's legacy.
