Premier League footballers are said to be insistent that PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor should take a voluntary wage cut before they agree to so themselves.

Taylor has been head of the PFA since 1981, and earns £2.2m a year, making him the highest paid union boss in the world. According to the Star, a number of top-flight stars feel let down that Taylor has not set an example and taken a wage decuction.
