Pre-eclampsia symptoms as Scots mum and baby saved by quick-thinking medics

A woman from Ayrshire has recently told her story about how her and her baby's lives were saved by quick-thinking medics when suffering from pre-eclampsia.

The condition was initially mild, but became progressively worse and eventually the woman, named Maxine Phillips, gave birth to her child 11 weeks early via C-section.

While she says the pre-eclampsia got worse after the birth, keeping her in hospital for nine days, Maxine recovered and has since completed the Edinburgh half-marathon.

Her child, now two-years-old, has exceeded all expectations according to her mother and was allowed to go home weeks before her term date.
