Portsmouth manager Danny Cowley has described the decision to leave on-loan Manchester City goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu out of the League One Team of the Season as "ridiculous." The Irishman, who joined Portsmouth on a season-long loan deal from City last summer, was omitted from the team that was announced at Sunday evening's EFL awards.

Bazunu has been excellent for Pompey this season and has made a real name for himself. Instead, however, Plymouth Argyle shot-stopper Michael Cooper was preferred between the sticks.

Cooper has kept 18 clean sheets in League One this season, while Bazunu has kept 16. READ MORE: How Man City should line up vs Real Madrid in Champions League Despite Cooper justifying his inclusion in the Team of the Season, Cowley has blasted the decision.

Bazunu also missed out on winning the League One Young Player of the Season award, with Fleetwood Town's Paddy Lane crowned the winner.
