Popular bar chain Bar 44 has announced they are closing all their Welsh venues indefinitely after a ban on selling alcohol in pubs and restaurants was confirmed.
Owner Owen Morgan said with a "heavy heart" that they are closing all of their Welsh-based sites from 6pm on Friday. The closure includes Bar 44 and Asador 44 in the capital, and their venues in Cowbridge and Penarth.
Their online store will remain open, Wales Online reports. The bar's statement comes after First Minister Mark Drakeford announced a ban on selling alcohol in pubs and restaurants.
New rules mean that all cafes, pubs, bars and restaurants will have to close at 6pm and cannot sell alcohol at any time as part of new measures to try and slow the spread of coronavirus.
